Check out our new statue! I call it "The Kissers"

San Diego is home to tons of wonderful public art. Over the past few years, Harbor Drive and the Embarcadero downtown have hosted some wonderful new pieces ... the newest of which is a large statue depicting that famous post-WWII kiss taken by a Life Magazine photographer. The statue is in a grassy area between the Fish Market restaurant and the U.S.S. Midway Naval Museum.

Grandma and Grandad (a retired Navy man AND retired teacher) were down there on Thursday having lunch and decided to snap a few photos to share with some retired Navy friends who live out-of-state and wouldn't otherwise be able to see the statue in person.

Since Mom downloaded the photos for them, I was able to shanghai the .jpegs and post 'em for you to see, too!

I'll give Grandad credit for takin' the photos, but I cropped 'em ... DMM

That is a lovely statue! In Jacksonville, we have these manatees all over the city, and now a few jaguars...but they are covered in different kinds of art. We will have to get a picture of one of them and show you!

Wow! That statue is REALLY big. Because the people look really small in that picture. And people are really big themselves...
