The following is reprinted from the San Diego Union-Tribune --
October 5, 2008 TRUCKEE, CA: A Sierra Nevada hiker has died at a Truckee hospital after being rescued by the Placer County sheriff's search and rescue team.
Sheriff's officers said the woman was one of four people who were found by rescuers yesterday on the Pacific Crest Trail near Tinker's Knob.
The four apparently suffered through a cold, rainy night at more than 8,900 feet.
The name of the dead woman was being withheld pending notification of her family. The three survivors are Harold Herlan, 65, of San Diego; Pamela Bryant, 49, of El Cajon; and Karen Lafferty, 58, of Hanford.
It's likely that Mom's friend Hal wasn't injured because he's a retired US Marine an' a pretty tough dood.

There's a hospital in Truckee? Mom was there in like, 1978 and it was a blink and you miss it sort of place. However, being stuck out in that weather is not a good place to be. We are also thankful your mom's neighbor is okay.

Dennis is glad there are survivors. That poor hiker though, the one who died.
rain and cold sound bad to have to spend a lot of time in.
Dennis loves Hal and hopes he is fine.
