Saturday Photo Scavenger Hunt #81: BEAUTIFUL

BEAUTIFUL

The Saturday Photo Scavenger Hunt theme for this week is BEAUTIFUL ...  An' I have the perfect photo to show.  Of course, it's of ME.

Mom calls me "Beautiful Girl" when I'm bein' sweet an' cuddly on the bed.  She actually says it more like "Beee-yyyou-tee-ful Gurrrrllll" an' it makes me happy an' all purr-y.

As you can see in my photo, I have shiny furs an' I'm usin' my laserbeam eyes ... Meeoowww!  I am quite an attractive kitty girl if I do say so myself.  I'm not being conceited.  I'm just stating a fact.  Right, Jake?

Friday Fill-in

Friday Fill-Ins #87

And...here we go!

1. When I'm sick I'm _crabby and low-energy. I “mainline” Gatorade and try to sleep it off_.

2. When I take a walk, I think about _the music that I’m listening to, but I am constantly surveying my surroundings to keep from being mugged again ... I suppose that I’m kind of paranoid about it since I’m usually alone_.

3. Money can't buy happiness but it can _buy a whole bunch of really nice stuff to eat, wear, and play with_.

4. Cotton makes me __comfortable_ and leather makes me __”edgy”?_.

5. The strangest person/character I've had lewd thoughts about was _”Hellboy” ... yeah, that’s pretty darn odd_.

6. My favorite color these days is __grey_ because _it seems to go with nearly everything that I own. In fact, I’d like to buy some deep gray jeans_.

7. And as for the weekend, tonight I’m looking forward to _relaxing with the fifth, sixth, seventh, and eighth of Lisa Scottoline’s novels. I brought them home from my classroom for a “reading weekend”_, tomorrow my plans include _shopping for school wear for my brother ... why? I have no idea other than my mom asked me to help her_ and Sunday, I want to _sleep late_! Labor Day will feature lunch at Boomerang’s Gourmet Burger Joint where the burgers are out of this world!!!

Happy Birthday, Puffy!

We haven't been bloggin' much lately 'cuz Mom an' her thumbs have been ... ahem ... otherwise occupied. Yep, she's been sittin' on her thumbs afterschool attending some continuing education seminars under the auspices of the San Diego County Office of Education. Now ... if she were a brand-new an' freshly outta the box baby teacher, the seminars might be useful 'cuz she wouldn't have oodles of experience an' tons of years of teachin' already under her belt. But since this is her nineteenth school year, she's pretty much seen it all under each of its different names. When she finally gets home after 7:30 PM (twelve hour days SUCK), she's not much in the mood to help us to write ... although she does graciously allow us about thirty minutes of readin'/visitin'.

The good thing is that she managed to remember that it's Feline American Cocoa Puff's eleventh birthday today. Big birthday wishes to our furry own House Panther. We're having BBQ pork, stinky goodness, an' a whole bag of Temptations. Stop by if you'd like to share in our birthday celebration feasting!

This is a furry special Monday in the blogosphere 'cuz we're salutin' Mo's (aka Not the Mama) dedication to cats AND Roxy an' Lucky's momma ... Auntie Karate ... is celebrating her birthday!

Here is Roxy an' Lucky's momma as a little girl in school ... From what we hear, she's not much older now an' just a cute! ... an' we're not just sayin' that 'cuz she could kick our butts with her scary/dangerous karate skills!

We wish a GINORMOUS "Happy Birthday" to Auntie Karate! Have a big piece of cake for us!

An' we're also sending a shout out to our furry good furriend, Mo ... You can find one of his bloggies HERE. He's a furry good guy an' a great furriend to cats efurrywhere. At Daphne an' Chloe's bloggie, you can read 'bout the kitties that Mo has fostered including Percy who just found his furrever home.

Let's help Skeezix get a JOB!

Sign Skeezix's petition by clicking here!

Efurryone knows what a great guy Skeezix is an' how much he loves Daisy the Curly Cat. This week, he's shown another facet of his blogosphere persona by bein' the guest host an' blogger at Snuzzy.com. Now, Skeezy has the opportunity to get a real live JOB bloggin' for Catster, but he needs our help. Please click on the petition link an' tell Mr. Rheingold how much we value Skeezy's contributions as a blogger. If Skeezy gets hired an' makes enough green papers, he can afford to take Daisy the Curly Cat to the PROM!!

Friday Fill-in

Friday Fill-Ins #85

1. The last meal I had at a restaurant was
_last Tuesday at Fuddrucker’s for a school club’s fundraiser: I had a 1/2 pound burger cooked medium with a cherry Pepsi. I shared a regular-sized “frings” with my family. Gosh, that burger was incredible_... Oh, wait a minute. I ate at El Torito on Wednesday after going to see “Kung Fu Panda” again. I ate half of a Macho Combo and brought the rest home for left-overs.

2.
_A person who cheats_ is something I intensely dislike.

3. The full moon
_is especially glorious in October when the air is crisp and smells of Sweetarts (due to night-blooming jasmine)_.

4.
_”Dood” (but not “dude”)_ is one of my favorite local expressions.

5. Sometimes it's best to
_eat something tasty, but “bad” for you rather than something nutritious that tastes “blech”_.

6.
_”Kung Fu Panda”_ is the best movie I've seen so far this year!

7. And as for the weekend, tonight I’m looking forward to _watching junk on television and fast-forwarding through the Olympics that I taped last night_, tomorrow my plans include _wearing a violet ribbon_ and Sunday, I want to _SLEEP_!

Still leaking ...

Join us ... and light candles ... in rememberance of friends an' furriends whom we have lost recently.  Cry some tears ... and give some hugs ... but most of all, remember.

We are deeply saddened ...

The blogosphere has been dealt a cruel blow today with the death of Monty Q's baby bean, Sprout.  Further details about her accident are available at Millie's bloggie as Millie's momma, Lynne, is Sprout's godmother.

Please stop by Monty Q's bloggie to offer your condolences ... an' don't forget to stop by Millie's, too.  If you can, a donation toward Millie's momma's plane ticket would be most gracious ...

With leaky eyes ...
DMM and the Feline Americans

The Great Toe Raffle is ON!

Our furriend Percy of The Cats Stephens needs to have some cancer surgery an' he's trying to raise money to help his 'beans with the cost.  He's havin' a raffle with some beautiful fleece blankies made by his furry own grandma.

The tickets are furry inexpensive an' you can buy them using PayPal links that he's got posted on The Cats Stephens' bloggie.

Saturday Photo Scavenger Hunt #80: DARK

DARK

The Saturday Photo Scavenger Hunt theme for this week is DARK ...

Can you guess what this is?
Yep ... It's a little piece of this!

As you can tell, Cocoa Puff has very DARK fur ... In fact, he's almost totally black 'cept for half of his whiskers, an' about four white hairs growin' on his chest.

If all of the lights are off in the house, Mom can't see Puffy at all unless he yawns or meows.  He's very DARK.

Friday Memes: Friday's Feast an' Friday Fill-ins

This Friday's Feast is an old one first appearing on Friday, December 16, 2005.  Since the Friday's Feast website hasn't been updated since July 11th, I guess that I'll just go back and do "leftovers" from now on.

Appetizer
What is a word that your family uses that would not be considered common?

SCOOBS is my brother's nickname. I don't suppose many others would use "Scoobs" (or "scoobs") in regular conversation unless mispronouncing SCUBA or something.

Soup
What theme of calendar do you have on your wall this year?

At home, I have a "The Far Side" calendar on my bedroom wall and a kitty cat calendar in my office/closet/spare bedroom. At school, the calendars are entirely animal calendars with the predominance being kitty cats.

Salad
Name 3 people you speak with on a daily basis.

I speak to my next door teacher neighbors at school at least three times a day since we're charged with standing in the doorways to greet our students, so Hal and Joe are two (during the weekdays only, of course). And I speak to my parents daily.

Main Course
If you could put a new tattoo on someone you know - who would it be, what would the tattoo be of, and where would you put it on them?

I'd tattoo Hal.   I'd put it on his forehead and it would be "Retired Marine ... I could field-dress you if I wanted to!" just as a warning to students who try to tick him off.

Dessert
What is the last beverage you drank out of a glass bottle?

Oh, this was a while ago ... almost a year.   It was in the Tri-Cities at a roadside stand and it was a bottle of Bubble Up.  Gosh, it was good.   I really miss having access to Bubble Up as I don't like other Lemon-Lime sodas.

Friday Fill-Ins #84

Here we go:

1. You know you're old when _you were already tenured when this group of ninth graders were born _.

2. My heart is divided between _pets__ and _family_.

3. _My driver's side front tire repaired_ (that's why I'm waiting for the mechanic to call)  is what I need RIGHT NOW!

4. I have felt the _breeze from the pinnacle of the high dive_, I have known the depths of _the deep end of the pool where the high dive is located_.

5. Gah, won't these people _shut the heck up and let me think_.

6. _Reserve your plane ticket_ as soon as you can!  (I'm thinkin' that Wednesday will be that day).

7. And as for the weekend, tonight I’m looking forward to _the Opening Ceremonies of the 2008 Summer Olympiad_, tomorrow my plans include _sleeping late and having some pizza_ and Sunday, I want to __sleep some more and have some more pizza__!

Happy NOMS Day!

Karl ... of The Cat Realm ... reminded me that N.O.M.S. Day is TODAY!

I wanna re-introduce you all to our Not Of My Species special friend.  He is a clown loach an' his name is Stripy Pete.

Easy on Sunday

So, I was just relaxin' today enjoyin' the warm weather an' sunny spots when Mom told me ... I mean SPRUNG IT ON ME ...  that she's leavin' in six weeks to go on ANOTHER vacation to Seattle.  Last year, she left us for nearly a month with a cat sitter.  That was okay 'cept that we got hairballs an' Pumpkin wouldn't quit hidin' under the bed.

Six weeks ago, she left us with Grandma an' Grandad.  That was better 'cuz they played with us an' we weren't alone all the time.

When she leaves in the middle of September, she's leavin' us with ... Uncle James.  Uh, oh ... I think that we are doomed ...

Grandma an' Grandad are gonna drive their green masheen up to the Pacific Northwest, too ... but they're leavin' before Mom leaves an' they're returnin' long after Mom has to report back to school.  Mom's gonna fly in an airplane again.  Uncle James is gonna take Mom to the airport an' then pick her up when she returns.  Mom's lookin' forward to spending more time with our Aunt Toni (Ben Fuzz an' Lucy Furr's momma) an' our Uncle Jer (who just moved in next door to Aunt Toni).  She is also gonna spend time with her cousins (Zoey an' the Furballs with Cha-Ching's mom an' dad an' Gus an' Perla's momma).  Mom's glad that our gran'parents are gonna be driving so that she can shop for clothes an' stuff.  Like Mom needs more clothes ... geez!

We're pretty nervous 'bout Mom goin' again 'cuz Uncle James doesn't know furry much about cats ... He has a woofie:  Our cousin, Shadow Saluki.  Uncle James isn't much of a housekeeper either, so we're worried 'bout our water bowls an' litter boxes an' stuff.  Is he gonna feed us?  Will he play toys with us?  Is he gonna stay overnight or will he leave us to sleep 22 hours a day?  What're we gonna do?  We're not gonna get to visit any of our furriends or be able to blog 'cuz Uncle James doesn't let our woofie cousin blog AT ALL!!!

Argh ... What's with the 'beans an' their vacations?!?  Aren't they supposed to be grousin' 'bout gasoline prices an' having STAY-cations instead?

Mom claims that she needs rain.  It hasn't rained here in a furry long time:  We've had drizzle an' humidity, but no major precipitation in ages.  Mom claims that she suffers rain withdrawal.  Ack!  Water is for drinkin', Mom!

We've got six weeks to train Uncle James so that we don't get all messed up when Mom's gone.  Perhaps we'll punish her by havin' a "trash the house" party with all of you?  Whaddya think, cat blogosphere?  Up for a par-tay in America's Finest City?

Saturday Photo Scavenger Hunt #79: Cloudy

CLOUDY

The Saturday Photo Scavenger Hunt theme for this week is CLOUDY ...

I don't know if you could get a cloudier photo if you tried!

This photo was taken on Grandad's 69th birthday last year when Mom was on her vacation from us (yeah, like that could really be the reason that she left us for THREE WEEKS).  They traveled westbound on Interstate 84 from the Tri-Cities in Washington to Oregon so that Grandad could celebrate his birthday with his brothers.  Efurryone found out later that Grandad hadn't celebrated a birthday with his fambly in over FIFTY years.  Grandad's middle brother ... the grandad of Zoey, the Furballs, an' Cha-Ching ... hosted the party with pizza, birthday cake, an' Tillamook ice cream.

Getting back to the picture ... It was a furry rainy ride.  The fambly visited Multnomah Falls at lunchtime where it was furry pretty with leaves changin' an' efurrything.  The Pacific Northwest is beautiful all the time, but especially so in the rainy autumn.

Friday Fill-Ins

Guess what, efurryone!  Can you believe that this is my 9ooth post?  I just noticed it myself.  Wow!  I guess that I've had lots to say over the past two years an' coupla weeks.  What I should be saying is "thanks" to efurryone who has read ... and more so to those who have commented ... on those 900th posts.  Thanks!

Once again, there's no Friday's Feast, so I'm just doin' the fill-ins this week ...

Oh, an' don't tell Charmee: I'm takin' all the money from his piggy to buy Temptations. He got really angry last time I even got in there to change coins for folding money ... This time, the money's gonna get GONE.

Friday Fill-Ins #83

1. If I could travel back in time, I'd go to __February 2, 1985 and kick some major butt__.

2. Give me _land, lots of land, under starry skies above ... don’t fence me in_ or give me _elbow room, elbow room ... gotta, gotta get me some elbow room_.

3. I am listening to _my inner monologue as most others give really crappy advice_.

4. Somewhere, someone is thinking __exactly the same things that I’m thinking, but in a different language_.

5. I'll always be _a grammarian ... despite the horrible grammar, diction, and syntax used by people with louder voices than mine_.

6. My idea of a good time includes _music and good food_.

7. And as for the weekend, tonight I’m looking forward to _actually, today was pretty darn good with lunch at Boomerangs_, tomorrow my plans include _sleeping late_ and Sunday, I want to _go and see a movie ... maybe_!
