An Award!

My super-handsome tomfriend, Jake, presented me with the Premio Dardos Award

I've paraphrased the gist of the award for you ... With the Premium Dardos, recognize the values that each blogger shows each day in commitment to transmit cultural, ethical, literary, personal etc. values that, in short, demonstrate their creativity in their thoughts and words.

I'm so honored that he bestowed this award on me (an' the Feline Americans, too ... I guess).

In the spirit of the award, I must pass it along to five other deserving bloggers. I choose these wonderful blogs (even though they might have already received this award from others):

Tuxie Toozday: Hallowe'en costume out-take ...

Grandma was helpin' Mom to take my photo for Skeezix's Hallowe'en Costume Contest 2008 ... but she keeps hittin' the wrong button an' windin' up takin' video instead.

Mom is under the blankie (Mom: "I couldn't BREATHE under there!") tryin' to get me to shake my pompons ... That's why Grandma is talkin' 'bout "wigglin' her."

'Beans need to give it up!

Wastin' time on Sunday ...

Mom wanted to post this screen shot 'cuz she's NEVER broken 6,000 playin' Marble Drop before. She spends a little bit of time just about efurry day playin' a game or two at Netives.com, but she doesn't seem to get better or more skillful (keep in mind that she'd systematically kill off the hundreds of extra "Marios" Uncle James would rack up playin' Super Mario Brothers on his Super Nintendo machine back in the early 80s).

Anyway, since there's nothing all that interestin' goin' on, I thought that I'd humor Mom with her little "accomplishment" ... Don't tell her that I put "accomplishment" in quotation marks (TWICE!) or she'll know that I mock her ... bwah ha haaaaa!

When I noticed this week's theme, I looked for the scariest photo I could find an' it was this one ... Bwah ha haaaaaa! I have laserbeam eyes, sharp clawrs, an' big SCARY teeth!

Just too odd on Toozday ...

Mom's dear friend Rose sent this photo ... obviously Photoshopped ... in an email.  All Mom would say is "Eewww" and "Yuck" ... followed by "Scary"!!!

Saturday Photo Scavenger Hunt #88: FAMILY

Today's Photo Hunter's theme is FAMILY.

In my fambly, there's Mom ... an' our grandma an' grandad ... an' Uncle James (an' our woofie cousin, Shadow Saluki. We have more distant cousins like Ben Fuzz & Lucy Furr an' Zoey, the Furballs, an' Cha-Ching ... an' Gus and Perla (who don't have a blog), too.

But there're Those Who Came Before, too ... Although they've been livin' over the Bridge for a furry long time, we still consider them a part of our fambly. So for this week's theme, we're doin' a collage of the kitties an' woofies who make up our immediate fambly ...

Top row: MeeMaw; Percy; Cookie Monster; Lacey Bunns
Middle row: Toby; Dolly Pop; Fudge Ripple; DaisyMae Maus
Bottom row: Huckleberry Finn; Cocoa Puff; Sparky Fuzzypants; Pumpkin
Basement: Peaches; Lucky Charmz

Those of us listed in bold type are the current members of the Feline Americans ...

Spooky Saturday!

It's time to start gettin' your spook on!  Stop by Zoolatry!

Thrills on Tuesday!

One of Mom's favorite people at her job is a former Sony manager turned high school computer lab facilitator named Minako.  Looking at Minako, the average person wouldn't guess that she's an awesome bowler, world traveller, and dare devil ...

But she is!

Minako celebrated a big birthday last week with a tandem jump out of an airplane!  Can you believe it?

In San Diego ... not far from where Mom lives and works ... there is an airstrip called Brown Field where ordinary folks can learn to fly airplanes and gliders, and take lessons that allow them to jump out of planes.

Mom only started flying in 737s as a first class passenger two years ago ... so it's gonna take awhile for her to work up the guts that Minako has.  But until then, Minako is our HERO!  Way to go!!!

The Hallowe'en Contest is ON!

The Feline Americans an' I are sponsorin' two categories -- Spiciest Vixen in a costume (real or Photoshopped) an' ManCatliest Dood in a costume (real or Photoshopped).

Mom has volunteered to custom-paint a baby Squillion in the images of the two winners (or in the image of the winners' choice). We only have kitty an' woofie squillions, though ... so the winners must either BE kitties or woofies OR must want their Squillion to be a kitty or woofie.

You can stop by the Hallowe'en Costume Contest bloggie by clickin' HERE.  There are always a ginormous number of contestants an' the competition is somethin' fierce!

Don't miss out!  Categories are bein' dreamed up daily, so there are lots of chances  to WIN!

If you've seen Mom's painted Squillions ... you know that they come out pretty cute.  If you haven't, here's a sampling of what she's painted in the past:

Saturday Photo Scavenger Hunt #87: LAZY

Today's theme is: LAZY!

The youngest Feline American, Lucky Charmz, is usually the one with the most energy. Mom calls him "manic" 'cuz he runs around all over the place when he's hopped up on sugar (he had some syrup this morning) or when he's just wound up.

But ... after expending all of his pent up energy whirling about like a dervish ... Charmee crashes and turns into a lazy ol' lounge lizard.

Spays an' Neuters needed ...

Grr, Midnight & Cocoa (with Rascal an' Riley)'s momma an' the Formerly Blonde Girl are workin' furry hard to trap - neuter/spay - an' return some feral kitties in their neighborhood ... an' the cost is expensive for them right now 'cuz there's about six kitties plus some babies needing the care of a V-E-T.

Mom is sending a check to help with some of the cost ... an' she's sure that the Formerly Blonde Girl an' her momma would be grateful for any additional financial help that members of the blogosphere could provide.  If you can help with a little donation toward the price of eleventy-squillion spays or neuters, would you please visit Grr, Midnight & Cocoa's (with Rascal an' Riley) bloggie an' volunteer?  You can click the link above an' zip directly over to their bloggie ...  Thanks, efurryone!

FYI on Friday: Mud Bay Pets

If you're a lover of Yeowwww! catnip products like the wonderful 'nip cigars an' 'nip bananas ... an' you're fortunate enough to live in the western half of Washington State ... you can get those coveted items (plus Jackson Pollacks an' other 'nip stuff) at a furry great pet food store called Mud Bay Pets.

Mom stopped in the one in the Burien area when she was visiting our Auntie Toni ... the mom of Ben Fuzz an' Lucy Furr.  Mom is a big time shopper an' is always on the look-out for treats for us an' gifts for our furriends an' fambly.

Since the 'nip bananas are so hard to find ... an' since they're absolutely mandatory when playing "Bring, bring ... Pumpkin calling" on the living room rug ... Mom bought four of them, a big packet of 'nip, an' a single 'nip cigar.  She had LOTS of explainin' to do when she brought them through the TSA baggage check at the Sea-Tac airport last week ... Yeowwww! catnip is furry strong an' odoriferous ... but it looks suspiciously like cannabis sativa instead of nipeta cataria.

Anyway, if you're lucky enough to be able to visit this store in one of its many locations, you can get cat furniture, kyoot outfits an' accessories like fancy collars an' harnesses, plus toys, HEATED CAT CUPS, an' a bazillion different kinds of foods (with SAMPLES behind the counter).

The only bad thing is that they don't sell stuff online so you've gotta get your furry own handy an' conveniently located Auntie Toni to do your shoppin' for you ...

If you're in western Washington in the near future an' you get a hankering for some primo 'nip or other cat goodies, you can visit any of the conveniently located stores.  While you're there, please bug them to get their store up an' running online for those of us who live in places without Mud Bay ... 'k?

Wordy Wednesday: It's too hot!

Argghhhh ... The calendar is on the "October" page, but it sure doesn't feel furry fall-like here in sunny San Diego.  Today it was 90 degrees with nary a cloud in the sky.

Mom left before seven o'clock when the air was moderately cool, so she left the doors open with the security doors in place for ventilation for us.  She SHOULD HAVE left efurrything closed an' turned on the air conditioning.  The ice in our cup an' bowls had melted before she'd even arrived at school an' we were meltin' not much later!

At least she remembered to stop at Target on the way home from work 'cuz our Temptations jar was almost empty ... we could see the bottom of the jar!!!  That is NOT okay.  We're supposed to have treats in copious amounts!  She bought twenty-two packs of Temptations an' immediately opened some to fill the jar ... an' our bellies.

Also in the bag was ... a costume.  Ugh.  Mom bought it in her school colors an' I have a bad feeling that I'm gonna be modelling it.  Sigh ...

Let's hope that tomorrow is cooler ... or that we get the A/C left on while she's at work 'cuz she had a department chairs' meeting afterschool an' she could be comin' home furry, furry late.  Maybe she'll stop by Long John Silver's an' buy some f-f-f-fish??  How's about it, Mom?

Grateful on Sunday

Mom is grateful to note that her next-door-neighbor teacher wasn't injured despite being stranded overnight by cold and rainy weather on Friday, October 3.

The following is reprinted from the San Diego Union-Tribune --

October 5, 2008  TRUCKEE, CA:  A Sierra Nevada hiker has died at a Truckee hospital after being rescued by the Placer County sheriff's search and rescue team.

Sheriff's officers said the woman was one of four people who were found by rescuers yesterday on the Pacific Crest Trail near Tinker's Knob.

The four apparently suffered through a cold, rainy night at more than 8,900 feet.

The name of the dead woman was being withheld pending notification of her family.  The three survivors are
Harold Herlan, 65, of San Diego; Pamela Bryant, 49, of El Cajon; and Karen Lafferty, 58, of Hanford.

It's likely that Mom's friend Hal wasn't injured because he's a retired US Marine an' a pretty tough dood.

Saturday Photo Scavenger Hunt #86: SAD

Today's theme is: SAD! The theme is depressin' an' made us think of all of the furriends we've lost this year. Rather than dredge up SAD memories, we're just gonna post the word: SAD. An' we'll take a pass 'til next Saturday.

(Not so) Wordless Wednesday: When I "meowed" like a pirate ...

Efurryone ... Mom has promised to let me post a photo (or two) from "Meow Like a Pirate" Day back on September 19th when she was in Seattle an' she screwed up my posting with my great pirate outfit ...
