Debbie UPDATE

Mom's furriend Debbie is still in the ICU, but is doin' splendidly.  The doctors had to re-open her chest to remove some scar tissue that was pressing against her ribs and preventing the new heart from beating as strongly as is necessary ... but now that the excess tissue is gone, the new heart sounds AWESOME.  We cannot wait until Debbie can have visitors!  Yay!  Please keep purrin' an' purrayin' for her swift recovery ... The positive karmic thoughts an' everything that the blogosphere is famous for doin' is truly working an' is what is making all of these wonderful healing atoms.  Keep directin' that energy at Debbie!  You all ROCK in the biggest way!

Longevity ...

When Mom opened the newspaper this morning, she saw one of the teachers from the high school where she graduated nearly 24 years ago was featured on the front page.  Ms. Sharon Kleinschmidt was there with a headline about finally retiring from her teaching career after almost 48 years in the business.

Her retirement party is this afternoon an' since Grandad used to be her colleague before he retired in 2006, he an' Grandma are attending the festivities.

We wanna wish Ms. K a furry happy retirement after all of those years of dedicated service ... Surely the Raiders will miss her presence an' her ubiquitous hats!

Purrayin' for our furriend, Debbie an' a new heart!

UPDATE: Mom's furriend was a purrfect match to the donor heart an' at 11 AM today (5/27), went into surgery to have it implanted into her chest.

We hear that the surgery is a taxing one taking more than eight hours to complete! We'll let you know how efurrything goes ...

Keep purrin' 'cuz it's workin'! Huge thanks to the blogosphere for all of the pawsitive energy comin' Debbie's way!

Please keep my mom's furriend Debbie Kinney in your thoughts today. She is at the hospital awaiting news of a heart transplant. She's been on a special battery pack machine for more than two years now after her "original equipment" heart completely failed. Mom's known Debbie for more than fifteen years an' never knew her when her heart was healthy. Debbie was profiled on a San Diego television show called "The Sharp Experience" ... No one has ever had as many inquiries from viewers than Debbie ...

Someone had to lose her/his life in order for this heart to become available ... an' for this, we're sad. But we are so hopeful for Debbie. She's an amazing person with such a positive attitude about all she's suffered through no fault of her own. We'd love to see her become healthy an' able to go places more than a few hours away from her home. We'd love to hug her without worrying about breaking her. We'd love for her to see her step-grandchildren graduate from high school (in about fifteen years). Most of all, we'd just like to have her around to enjoy time with her wonderful husband, Larry (who carries her nitroglycerin bottle on a chair 'round his neck).

Best wishes an' a speedy recovery, Debbie! We're purrin' an' purrayin' for you!

Saturday Photo Scavenger Hunt #106: PAINTING

Today's Photo Hunter's theme is PAINTING!

Charmz is a big fan of ladders an' painting.  He especially likes to investigate fresh paint.  This is a photo of the LAST time that Mom did painting in the house ... She hired doods to do it this time, 'cuz painting needed to be done these last two weeks due to a burst water heater, flooded master bathroom an' bedrooms, an' other messed up stuff that need to get done.  It's FINALLY finished.  It's about time.

Saturday Photo Scavenger Hunt #105: WALKING

Today's Photo Hunter's theme is WALKING!

You've seen us trussed up in harnesses and leads when Mom valiantly tries to get us WALKING ... Mostly we fall over an' end up being dragged down the hallway like glorified "Swiffers." We're not much for walkin' for exercise ... But Mom is, so we're showing a photo of her (accompanied by her furriend Debbie wearing fev-vers on her head). This was taken nearly eighteen months ago when Mom was bein' Princess Thanksgiving in a 5K to raise money for Father Joe Carroll's St. Vincent de Paul charities. Mom an' thousands of other well-meaning folks got up furry, furry early on Thanksgiving morning to walk around the beautiful (and mostly flat) course at Balboa Park.

Mom an' Debbie ... dressed like giant doofusses ... got photographed for the St. Vincent de Paul newspaper. Serves 'em right for dressin' up like that!

Oh, BTW: Less than THREE weeks 'til our Auntie Toni flies down from Seattle to go to GradNite with Mom an' the senior class of 2009. Mom bought the first class round-trip ticket yesterday ... $733.00! Yowza!
