It's Been Three Weeks ...

I can't believe that it's been three whole weeks already and the tears have dried. Charmee and I have moved on with our lives. I don't know about him, but I feel guilty. I wear her medallion on a chain and carry her ash vial on my keychain and have her flat DMM and ashes on my bedside table and miss her everyday, but I'm not crying or hallucinating her around every corner anymore.

I think you know in your heart that DMM is with you always, and that is no reason to feel guilty. Purrs to you.

As the others said, there is no reason for guilt. DMM knew you loved her--and that you still miss her if not so intensely and painfully. Cats are well aware that time moves on as do all creatures. You will see her again one day-

It sounds like you & Charmee are really building on your relationship. It must be comforting to have him there for you -(even if he does snore like a popcorn machine Tee Hee). DMM will always be a part of your life & she would never want her Mom to feel quilt. We're glad you are doing better. Charmee sure enjoys all the attention he's soaking it up.

Three weeks is a very short time. Like RF mentioned there is no timeline with grief it will ebb and flow, and sometimes it won't even seem like it's there, but it is. DMM was with you for a very long time and making a new normal without her is hard and challenging. I am so glad that Charmee is with you and that you two are making new normals.

DMM will always be with you. I saw Sweet Praline one evening and felt her soft fur touch my legs several times. She would visit me for several months until Truffle came to live with me.

My thoughts are with you.

There's no reason to feel guilty. We all grieve differently. And even when they're gone, they're still in our heart.
