The Saturday Photo Scavenger Hunt theme for this week is CHILDHOOD, so I chose this photo of Mom's first best friend from her childhood: Peaches.
When Mom was a very little girl of five years and our Uncle James was merely two, they got a dog. This dog wasn't their first pet 'cuz they had goldfish and red-earred turtles ... But this was the first pet that could sleep on Mom's bed and go for walks and ride in the back seat of the car.
Before she belonged to Mom, Peaches was owned by an old lady who also had Peaches' brother. At the time, Peaches was named "Deana" ... The same name as the girl down the street who used to play "Barbies" with Mom afterschool.
Mom and Peaches were inseparable (much like Mom and I are today). Peaches used to go on long walks with Mom and would get to go camping, too. I don't get to do those things. Sometimes I wish that I had a stroller so that I could accompany Mom.
I never met Peaches 'cuz I was born in 1993 and Peaches went to the Bridge on March 9, 1989 when she was more than eighteen years old (and Mom was nearly twenty-two).
