Saturday Photo Hunt #53: OLD FASHIONED!

OLD FASHIONED!

The Saturday Photo Scavenger Hunt theme for this week is OLD FASHIONED!

Mom has this old fashioned plaque in her bathroom.  She has it to remind her of our great-grandma an' great-grandad ... an' the home that they lived in when she was a little kid.

Her grandma collected little wooden plaques with corny sayings on them.  They were hung in the kitchen, in the hallway, in the bathroom, an' in her grandad's shop outside.  When Mom was visiting, she'd walk around the house an' read all of the plaques looking for new ones an' enjoying old favorites.

I wonder what became of those little wooden plaques?  Our great-grandma and great-grandad crossed the Bridge more than a decade ago, an' much of their possessions were divided among our aunts an' uncle (our grandma even has a few things, but no plaques).

ADDENDUM:  It's the "style" of the plaque that's old fashioned, NOT the sentiment.

We like that plaque, and that's the way it should be.

The woman is wandering around going, what do you mean that's old fashioned?

What a cute plaque. We really like it, though we should show it to our dadbean since he hasn't "gotten used to it" yet. Maybe this'll tell him!

So true, so true!
Our local feed supply sells these plaques - only now they are made out of metal.... but still with the old fashioned look!

I agree with that, except my DadBean gets to do as he pleases, too. :)

yesterday was 9 years for great grandpa. it's seems so long ago and hardly any time at all. it will be 17 years for great grandma this year. i sure wish i'd known them. mom tells me about them some times.

mom says to tell you that she doesn't think any of the sibs has the plaques. it might be worth asking aunt donna if she has any though.

thanks for showing that plaque. it's good be reminded of family history. mom's favorite was 'it's be thought a fool than to speak up and remove all doubt'.
