Mom's friends, Lana an' Dennis, have been featured many times on this blog. Two years ago, they moved to South Dakota from the hustle an' bustle of San Diego. They like the slower pace, the lack of tagging an' gangs, and the friendliness of "small town" life. The one thing that they don't seem to like quite that much is the weather: Namely, the snow.
The poem (author unknown) an' the cartoon come from Lana as "commentary" on snow an' its problems. I must mention that they have two woofie girls ... Min Pins ... named Toni an' Katie ... who aren't that fond of snow, either.
It’s winter in South Dakota
And the gentle breezes blow
Seventy miles an hour
At twenty-five below.
Oh, how I love South Dakota
When the snow’s up to your butt
You take a breath of "winter"
And your nose gets frozen shut.
Yes, the weather here is wonderful
So I guess I’ll hang around
I could never leave South Dakota
‘Cause I’m frozen to the ground.
I'm gonna go on-record an' state that the Feline Americans an' I are furry appreciative that it never snows here at the beach an' the coldest it ever gets is about 33 degrees. Oh, an' we have LITTER BOXES, so we never have to "go" outside!
Kitties rule!!!

"Goin" outside is one of the things we miss most about Winter! Too cold. Brrrr...
Going outside to do your business really stinks some times. You are lucky, DaisyMae. We are supposed to have more bad weather tomorrow.

Aww, we wish lots of love and luck to Lana & Dennis in getting used to all the cold snow. Our Mama and Papa are from California too, and although MD is not as cold as SD, AND they've been here for 4 years already, they're still not used to the burrrrrrrr cold!
