Saturday Photo Hunt #22: ART

ART

The Saturday Photo Scavenger Hunt theme for this week is ART and my house is virtually crawling with artistic stuff.

I had tons of things to choose from, so I didn't select just ONE thing to show ... I chose three.

The first is a photograph of a stained glass kitty that Mom's cousin (Zoey and the Furballs' momma) made.

As you can see, Mom's cousin is furry talented.

She used a picture kinda like a jigsaw puzzle to decide on the size and shape of each piece. She cut each individual piece of colored class and then stuck them together with a special solder. Up at the top, she made two loops so that Mom could hang the stained glass kitty in the window.

In the photo, Mom had the kitty hangin' on the door so that you could get a better view of the intricate details of the kitty.

Our second piece of art is our Gizzy Quilt.

Millie and Jasmine's momma made it for us in our favorite colors: Purple and Green. Charmee is modeling our quilt because efurryone knows that pictures look so much more attractive if cats are in 'em. Besides, Charmee's white fur make the colors of our quilt POP!

The last example of art is a really large still life painting that hangs in the dining room.

It's a Katherine Curran original oil done on a 44" x 32" canvas. Grandma and grandad bought the painting in 1969 paying $180. The painter let my grandparents pay the cost of the painting over the course of a year.

Grandma describes Ms. Curran as being "quite a lady." At the time of the painting's purchase, Grandma was pregnant with my Uncle James. Grandma remembers Ms. Curran as even sending a baby gift when Uncle James was born.

These are just three of the lovely works of art that grace my home ... Although, it has been said that cats are artistic masterpieces, too!

Love the quilt! I almost posted a photo of one of my quilts, but decided to use my daughter's drawing instead. She's much more of an artist than I ever will be!
