Thank you to Zoolatry!
A GINORMOUS "Thank You" to Maggy, Zoey, an' their momma for re-doin' our header photo an' makin' me less "dark an' mysterious" ... Mom doesn't have that software on our computing masheen, so we're stuck with whatever photos she takes (or ... heaven help us ... the ones Grandma takes that are always blurry). We instructed Mom to put up our new an' beautiful header as soon as she got the front door open. She's a great assistant ...

Rainin' on ManCat Monday (an' Presidents' Day)
Happy Presidents' Day, efurryone. It's been a pretty quiet one ... In fact, it's furry much like our Sleepy Sunday. The Feline Americans an' I have been spendin' the day snoozin', nappin', beggin' for bites from an In-N-Out Burger Double-Double that Mom brought home, an' watchin' the rain come down in sheets.
We've been beggin' for some real "weather" for weeks now coupled with some rather vicious mockin' of our local weather prognosticators who are wrong about 95% of the time.
It's FINALLY stormy, windy, an' wet in San Diego an' we're happy for it. Keep it comin', clouds! We need the rain. Besides, the black masheen had some bird poop on the hood from the peckies livin' in the eaves. Mom doesn't like washin' cars if the rain will do a better job an' she doesn't need to buy soap!
Later doods an' dood-ettes!

BTW: Did you read that President #43 was ranked 38th out of 43? He wasn't the all time worst? Amazing! I would have ranked him 43rd outta 43 any day of the week an' twice on Sunday!

Sleepy Sunday
Wow! That was some Valentine's Day!
After an evening of niptinis, primo catnip, dancin' and romancin', we're pretty trashed (thank you to our Valentines ... meeoww). We're gonna rest an' just call this post another "Sleepy Sunday" ...

Save me some room under those covers, boys!
Sparky Fuzzypants an' Charmee have the blankie all warmed up an' cozy.

Valentines in 2009: Love is in the Air!
Happy Valentine's Day graphic from our furriends Maggy an' Zoey at Zoolatry. Thanks, ladies!
Glitter Graphics
Charmee got Miss Willow's permission to be Valentines again this year an' he's furry happy 'bout it 'cuz ... despite his silly behavior an' running like a crazy cat ... Charmee's kinda shy.
Build your own Blingee
Cocoa Puff couldn't be more delighted to be China Cat's Valentine again this year. He has been havin' his fur combed efurry day to keep himself extra handsome.

This is the THIRD year that Dazey an' Pumpkin have been Valentines ... Pumpkin hopes that Dazey doesn't notice the cat-acne on his chin ...
Sparky Fuzzypants actually had fun playin' the field last year, so he decided to try goin' stag again this year ...
An' I got an extra special surprise from Rocky the Gutter Cat ... He asked ME to be his Valentine this year! I received a special Valentine heart delivered by the man in the bloo shorts an' it is so pretty! It has our pictures on the front an' a beautiful poem written by the "Rockaroonie" himself. Swoon! I plan to teleport over to Rocky's house this afternoon to share the primo 'nip that he sent along with his Valentine sentiments. Hubba, hubba ...
But I won't forget my sweetie Jake ... He was my first (and second) Valentine ... Sigh
Saturday Photo Scavenger Hunt #99: NAUTICAL
Today's Photo Hunter's theme is NAUTICAL!
We usually show this photograph on Veteran's Day 'cuz Grandad was a veteran of the Navy and he served during the Viet Nam Conflict. He joined the US Navy in 1957 an' retired from active duty in 1982. He's a pretty nautical dood, don'tcha think?

Eeww and yuck!
As promised in my previous post, here are the photographs of the GEODUCK clams from Taylor Shellfish Farms of Shelton, Washington.
Supposedly, these "clams" are as delicious as they are expensive an' they're Grandma an' Grandad's favorites (razor clams are their second favorite).
Mom an' I ordered these butt-ugly bivalves an' they arrived ALIVE!
Mom's first words when the box was opened were "eew" and "yuck" ... then she described them them as vaguely phallic-looking. Judge for yourself ... okay?

What's a GOOEY DUCK?
GE•O•DUCK
pronounced: gooey-duck
pronounced: gooey-duck
Courtesy of Merriam-Webster:
a giant mud-burrowing bivalve mollusk occurring on the west coast of North America, where it is collected for food. Its shell valves are not large enough to enclose its body and very long siphon. Panopea generosa, family Hyatellidae
Origin late 19th century: from Puget Sound Salish
If you've watched the show on FoodTV (aka: the Food Network) called "Will Work For Food," you might have seen the episode where the host ... ol' what's-his-name ... oh, yeah ... Adam Gertler ... gets up at oh-dark-thirty to spend the morning fishing for geoduck with one of the owners of Taylor Shellfish Farms in Shelton, WA.
If you saw said episode, you probably exclaimed, "What the (expletive deleted) is that (expletive deleted) thing?" Mom sure did! An' then she alerted Grandma an' Grandad of the geoduck episode an' all those two could do was ... drool. In large quantities.
So Mom an' I hatched a plan. Since my sweet Jake went to the Bridge an' he won't be teleporting over to spend Valentine's Day with me, I wanted to do something for Grandma an' Grandad. I begged Mom to let me spend some of Charmee's recycling moneys to buy some clams. Get it? Clams for clams?
Mom got on the internet an' found the website for Taylor Shellfish Farms an' helped me to place the order for three pounds of geoduck clams. I didn't know that they were shipped alive an' that the second day air from UPS was so EXPENSIVE. I hafta say that those clams better be pretty darn amazing for two (yes ... TWO) freakin' clams to cost nearly $100. Each pound of clams cost $19.00 an' the shipping cost nearly FIFTY buckaroos!
We have photos of how the clams arrived an' how MONDO-ugly they are. Those'll get posted this weekend. Lemme tell ya, I'm gonna have a taste o' those geoducks!

Dear, sweet Jake ...
It's poignant to note that "bridge" is this week's Photo Hunt theme as my dear, sweet Jake has gone to the Bridge. I join his fambly in mourning his passing.
Jake has been my Valentine for the past two years an' I looked forward to celebrating with him next weekend with plenty of smooches. Unfortunately, that simply wasn't in the stars for us. I'll miss him terribly. Please visit Bathsheba (an' Nancy) to express your condolences. The blogosphere is sadder for Jake's passing, but we are better for having known him.
The bridge in the photo is Multnomah Falls in Oregon. I feel as cloudy and leaky as the waterfall and sky in the picture.

Thoughts on Toozday ...
I was havin' a couple of thoughts today an' thought (gosh, there's another one) that I'd throw 'em out into the blogosphere to see what'd happen ...
Thought 1: Why are fuzzy mice ... covered in elephant-sized dust bunnies ... so much more fun than brand new ones from PetSmart?
Thought 2: Why do the weather dudes an' ditzes ... ahem, meteorologists ... still have their jobs ('specially in THIS economy) ... when their forecasts are dead wrong about seventy percent of the time?
Discussion?
BTW: Our Thursday/Friday/Saturday forecast is ... get this ... RAIN! Bwah ha ha ... That's rich.
